At Morley Bedford we have several walls with memorial photos dedicated to those we have served. One particular wall has pictures of Ace Bailey, Red Kelly, Eddie “Clear the Track” Shack, Bob Nevin, Bob Goldham and others who have made enormous contributions to hockey over the years.

“Apple Cheeks” was born in Owen Sound and quickly rose up the minor league ranks (Barrie Colts) into the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings and guided them to the Stanley Cup in 1950.

This natural left winger went on to play over 10 years in the NHL for the Montreal Maroons and New York Americans and finally finishing as a defenceman with the Boston Bruins.

On my walk at York Cemetery, Toronto I discovere Tim Horton’s grave. Sadly the great Toronto Mapke Leafs, Buffalo Sabres defenceman died tragically February 21, 1974 on The QEW near St. Catherine’s at the age of 44.

On my beautiful walk in Longueuil, Quebec, just over the Jacque Cartier Bridge, Montreal I discovered the grave of the greatest Montreal Canadien (in my opinion) on and off the ice, numero 4, Jean Beliveau. He was laid to rest in this small, historic Catholic cemetery outside of Montreal.
