“The game is over, but their legacy lives on.” MLB players we lost in 2025.

As we enter a new year, we remember the ballplayers who helped make the great game what it is. In particular, we honour Canadians such as the Amazing Met and 1969 World Series champion Dr. Ron Taylor, along with Tim Harkness, who proudly wore the uniforms of both the Dodgers and the Mets and managed IBL’s Toronto Maple Leafs.

I also fondly remember players I was lucky enough to see and truly appreciate—Jim Clancy, Chet Lemon, the Cobra, and, growing up a Cleveland Indians fan before the Blue Jays existed, Horace Speed.

This summer I made a trip to Milwaukee, where I attended Bob Uecker Day at the park, hosted by Bob Costas. Before the game, I stopped to visit his grave, holding a catcher’s mask and a baseball in hand.

Bob Uecker died January 16, 2025.
