The Studio Building built in 1914 and co- funded by Lawren Harris

The Studio Building in Toronto’s Rosedale neighbourhood, was the home and working studio for several of the Group of Seven. It was also the location in the backyard where Tom Thomson had his own wood constructed studio that was later moved to the McMichael Gallery in Kleinburg. The building was financed by Lawren Harris and represents the enormous significance in the history of Canadian art.

Tom Thomson’s wood shed studio that was purchased by Robert McMichael and moved from the backyard of the Studio Building and taken to the McMichael Gallery in Kleinburg where it remains today.
