Thirty Two remains of Cuban soldiers repatriated to Cuba

Little is known or reported outside of Cuba  of the thirty two officers who were killed in Venezuela after the United States invaded Caracas on January 3, 2026.

Cuba and Venezuela are close allies, and Cuba had for years provided military and intelligence personnel, as part of defense and oil agreements between the two countries.

On January 15, the remains of the 32 officers were repatriated to Havana. They were received with full military honours. Thousands of Cubans lined the streets of Havana to pay their respects as the funeral cortege passed by. The government declared January 5 and 6 as official days of national mourning.
