Abandoned amusement park felt like a graveyard in Cavendish, P.E.I.

On My Trip to Cavendish, P.E.I. – Captain Bart’s Adventure Park

On my trip to Cavendish, Prince Edward Island in my 1979 Boler camper, I discovered something quite different from my usual graveyard visits—an abandoned amusement park.

Walking the silent grounds of the former Captain Bart’s Adventure Park, with not a soul in sight, I felt a strangely familiar sense of awe. Much like strolling through a historic cemetery, the deteriorating rides and crumbling displays stood like forgotten monuments.

One particular feature—the mock space shuttle—felt almost like a tombstone to a generation’s imagination. Sadly, I later learned it was dismantled in 2024, further erasing a once-beloved piece of local nostalgia.
